On Wednesday evening, June 19th, Dr. Cecilia Rokusek, the head of the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library in Cedar Rapids, spoke from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the German American Museum in St. Lucas, Iowa. Dr. Rokusek’s topic is “Our Collective Heritage: Strength through Understanding”.

Annual Oktoberfest Meal Offered at German American Museum
On Saturday October 9, 2021, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, the St. Lucas Historical Society will be offering a curbside pick-up Oktoberfest meal at the German American Museum.
Janet Bodensteiner, a founding member of the Society, says the delicious meal includes: a tasty Klement’s large brat and bun, sauerkraut, flavorsome bean dish, potato salad or chips, fresh apple strudel, and a yummy German chocolate treat.

German Maifest Returns to Pivo Brewery in Calmar
The St. Lucas Historical Society is sponsoring the 2nd annual German Maifest at the Pivo Brewery on Saturday, May 4th, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM to raise funds for the operation of the German American Museum, Library and Family History Center and for improvements to its electrical system.

Autumn Speaker Series Will be on Video
Due to the continued spread of the COVID 19 virus, the German American Museum, Library and Family History Center staff are placing the Autumn Speaker Series on YouTube. These videos replace actual live speakers in the Museum. The first two speaker videos will be uploaded in mid-September to St. Lucas Museum, Iowa.
