Numerous Ho-Chunk burials are on the grounds of the churchyard of St. Anthony De Padua. The church site may have been chosen to honor the indigenous people Christian burials as well as the early pioneers. Ho-Chunk burials are thought to be on other nearby hilltops along this area of the Turkey River.
